JUST FOR THE LOVE OF NEVER END SURREALISM ART RESEARCH
« My home town, a little fisherman village named Collioure in south of France received lot of influence from fauvist painter like Matisse and Derain or cubisme with Pablo Picasso. This culture and the beauty of Collioure give me the love of the light but during the 60-70’s, a period closer to my generation, Collioure received influence of one of the master of surrealism : Salvador Dali. His house was just at few kilometer behind the frontier and I had lot of chance when I was teenager to meet close friend and student of the master, showing me watercolor technics and party’s anecdote. I was interest by the art of painting but didn’t expect that their was pieces of surrealism in my work.
In 2008, during my residence at Chelsea Hotel my neighbor was the old lady Bettina Grossman, longest residence artist and most beautiful woman to have ever lived in the legendary hotel , according to residents. We become friends and Bettina with her experience help me to prepare a selection for the MOMA. I will ever remember when she stop and tell me « Loïc, do you know you are an impressionist ? ». Since that day I put a word on what I like most when I’m making picture.
